Computer-Controlled Car Racing at Essex

This is a simple radio-controlled toy car, tracked using a Vicon motion capture system and controlled from a desktop computer. The goal of the car is the green circle on the computer screen. Although the car is here controlled by a hard-coded control algorithm, we are working on automatically modelling the car’s dynamics and evolving transferable controllers in simulation, as part of a project on evolutionary car racing at the University of Essex. See http://togelius.blogspot.com/2006/04/evolutionary-car-racing-videos.html for results in simulation. Video by Renzo De Nardi and Julian Togelius.
